These photos are taken in Kenya, specifically in the village of Omino Uhuru. This village has suffered immense suffer and loss due to the high levels of lead the villagers are exposed to on a daily basis. However, one women, Phyllis Omido , has made it her life mission to help improve the living conditions for her fellow neighbors. In these pictures above, no words have to be said in order to see there's a very powerful story behind them. Omido is the true definition of a hero and what it means to be determined. Having been through in jail over 4 times, and knock unconscious by men with guns, she still had decided to go on with her mission. These pictures have a great appeal to the viewers emotion because anybody can see that the village is not an easy place to live. In one of those pictures, a little boy with a huge skin rash on his leg is seen eating with a young girl. Most viewers will find this heartbreaking, seeing that the younger generation has to deal with lead poisoning and do not have any sort of protection from this illness. With no access to clean water or air, these people were contaminated with lead, many of of them dying and many of them children. What these pictures are showing is a strong women, who isn't afraid to put her life on the line in order to help those she loves and create a better living space for them as well.
